Seniors Safety Fair

 

 

Join us for a day filled with useful information, fun, food and door prizes!

You are cordially invited to attend this informative and entertaining event. Speakers and exhibitors from various organizations will answer questions and present information on keeping seniors safe.

 

When: Tuesday November 10th 9am - 3pm

Where: Island Savings Community Centre - 2687 James Street, Duncan

Cost: $10 per person includes hot lunch and refreshments and all sessions. Advance registration is required as seating is limited.

 

Morning Plenary: Seniors Safety - Perception and Reality -Inspector Ray Carfantan: O/C North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP – what are the local crime stats for seniors, what police are doing and how seniors can avoid becoming victims

Break out Sessions: Choose one of three (first to third choice)

A. It’s not Right: Volunteer Cowichan and Better at Home: How neighbours, family and friends can learn to recognize and respond to abuse and self-neglect.

B. Intelligent Aging Panel will be on hand to discuss various topics to ensure successful senior years. Including financial security, mobility and renovation tips, hearing health and care options.

C. Emergency Ready: CVRD Public Safety Education – Preparing ourselves will help reduce the potential devastating effects of emergencies and disasters.

Afternoon Plenary: Frauds and Scams. Recognize it, report it, Stop it – Be more aware of the types of frauds and scams – presented by Members of the RCMP Community Policing Unit.

*Be sure to get your Passport to Safety stamped at the Community Agency Tables throughout the day.
